It’s Day 12 of the 12 Days of Crochet Christmas!

If you’re crocheting along and haven’t done so already, you’ll want to whip up an easy crochet gift tag to attach your applique to.

About the Pattern

This crochet snowman applique pattern consists of 2 parts, the head and body. Both parts are worked in the round starting with a magic ring and are sewn together to create our snowman.

I kept the details simple with a bow and a couple of French knots for buttons.

Finished Size

The finished applique measures approximately 1.5″ x 1″ (4cm x 2.5cm). Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.

Gauge

Gauge is not important in this pattern. However, using a different yarn and hook size will change the size of the finished item.

Notes

  • The snowman is worked in joined rounds. The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch. Work the first stitch of the next round in the same stitch as joining.

Pattern Instructions

Snowman Body (white)

Make a magic ring.

R1: Ch 1, 10 hdc in magic ring, join with sl st to first hdc (10)
R2: Ch 1, hdc-inc in each st (20)

Fasten off invisibly. Weave in ends.

Snowman Head (white)

Make a magic ring

R1: Ch 2, 8 dc in magic ring (8)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing

  • Whip stitch the snowman head to the body over 2-3 sts.
  • Using black yarn, make 2 French Knots for buttons, one between R1 and R2 of the body and the other covering the centre of the magic ring.
  • Using yellow yarn, tie a bow around the neck of the snowman (where the head and body meet). Trim ends.

12 days of crochet Christmas

Use fabric glue or hot glue to attach your finished applique to your gift tag.
