This crochet Christmas tree applique pattern is worked in turned rows from the top down alternating increase rounds to create a triangle shape.
I decorated my tree with French knots and a gold star but you could also use small beads, buttons, sequins or puff paint.

French Knots
- Bring the needle up through the piece where you want to place the knot.
- Lay the needle behind the thread.
- Wrap the thread around the needle 3 times.
- Take the needle partway down through your piece, close to where the thread is coming out.
- Slowly pull the needle and the working thread through the wraps to complete your French knot
Tip
Make more or less wraps to change the size of your French knot.

Finished Size
The finished applique measures approximately 1.5″ x 1.25″ (4cm x 3.5cm). Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not important in this pattern. However, using a different yarn and hook size will change the size of the finished item.
Notes
- The tree is worked in turned rows. The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
