Easy Crochet Glasses Case Pattern

Keep your glasses/sunglasses protected and within easy reach with this quick and easy crochet glasses case pattern. Whether you’re heading to the beach, relaxing poolside or setting off on an adventure, this handy case is lightweight and convenient.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been seeing this style of glasses case everywhere lately and as a glasses wearer myself, of course I had to crochet one.

I didn’t have any snaps or magnetic clasps on hand (and honestly, I’m not sure how well the crochet fabric would hold up to that type of closure over time), so I added a buttonhole and used a bead from my stash instead. It worked surprisingly well and adds a cute decorative touch.

About the Pattern

This crochet glasses case is worked in joined rounds of double crochet to make a large circle with a simple buttonhole.

I added my favourite decorative trim and a 12mm bead for the closure.

Since it’s essentially just a circle folded in half, this glasses case would make a great beginner-friendly project.

Recommended Yarn

I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 and Caron Blossom Cakes yarn with a 5mm hook for the cases pictured but any worsted weight yarn will work. This is a great stash busting project as it only uses a small amount of yarn.

If you’re unsure about substituting yarn, check out yarnsub.com for possible alternatives.

Adjusting the Size

You can make this crochet glasses case bigger or smaller by adding or subtracting increase rounds. When making adjustments, you’ll also want to change which round the button hole is in.

How to Use This Crochet Glasses Case

With the case open, place the glasses upside down on the bottom half of the circle with the arms facing out. Fold the top half of the circle towards you with the glasses sandwiched in the middle and push the bead through the buttonhole to secure. Fold in the arms on the back.

Finishing Details

  • Fold the glasses case in half with the buttonhole centred at the front. Using matching yarn, sew a bead to the inside of the case inline with the button hole. When the bead is pushed through the hole, it should be a snug fit.
  • Attach hardware to the top corner of the case for carrying or attaching to a bag. You can crochet a strap/lanyard or use a spring clasp with a lobster clasp/keychain.
