Cat Bookmark Crochet Pattern
If you’re a bookworm and a cat lover, this one’s for you! This cute cat bookmark crochet pattern works up quickly and would make a fun gift for readers of all ages.
Whether you’re crocheting for yourself, a loved one, or stocking your craft fair table, this pattern is sure to delight.

I’ve been rediscovering my love of reading over the last couple of months and wanted to make myself a bookmark. I love crocheting bookmarks as they’re both cute and functional.
This cat bookmark crochet pattern is quick and easy with minimal sewing. With its long ‘tail’ that tucks between the pages and a sweet little face that peeks out the top of your book, it’s the perfect reading companion.

About the Pattern
To make this cat bookmark, we’ll start by making the head and adding the facial details before joining yarn to the bottom of the head to crochet the ‘tail’.
The little bow at the end of the tail adds a sweet finishing touch.

With your crochet hook positioned in the corner, insert safety eyes between R10 and R11, 7 sts apart.
Tip: Press the opening together to check the position of the eyes before attaching the backs.
Start stuffing and continue to stuff as you go.
Press the opening together and sc through both sides to close, 11-12 sts.
Fasten off and weave in end.
Gently press down in the centre to create a more defined cat shape.
Face Details
- Using pink DK weight yarn, sew a nose between R10 and R11, centred between the eyes (approximately 2 sts long). Sew over it 3 times or until you have your desired look.
- Using a single strand of black embroidery floss, sew 2 whiskers either side of the eyes and a vertical st down from the nose for the mouth.
Tail
Note: You can adjust the length of the tail by adding or subtraction chains.
With the cat facing down towards you, insert your hook into a stitch on the right and bring it out through the centre of the magic ring. Place yarn on hook and draw through.
Ch 71, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across (70)
Insert hook through the centre of the magic ring and bring it out one stitch over.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Gently pull and stretch the tail to minimise any curling.

Bow
R1: Ch 10, hdc in second ch from hook and in each ch across (8)
R2-3: Ch 1, turn. [Hdc] x8 (8) 2 rows
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Pinch together in the centre. Using a long length of yarn in the same colour (approximately 15″), tie it around the middle of your piece to hold the shape.
Wrap the tails around the middle to form the centre of the bow (approximately 5-6 times) and tie the ends in a knot at the back. Weave in ends.
Using a piece of yarn the same colour as your bookmark, sew the bow to the bookmark approximately 3.75″ from the end of the tail.
