Chick Crochet Glasses Holder Pattern
Looking for a fun and functional crochet project or a unique handmade gift? This crochet glasses holder is just the ticket.

I’ve been seeing these fun animal crochet glasses holders everywhere and while I don’t usually follow trends, as a glasses wearer myself, I just couldn’t let this one pass me by.
And with Easter coming up, I thought it would be fun to make a chick.

I designed this glasses holder with more of an edge for a deeper tray. This makes it useful for non-glasses wearers as it can be used to hold other items such as: makeup, jewellery, pens/pencils or crochet hooks.
About the Pattern
This crochet glasses holder is worked around a foundation chain to create an oval base.
We’ll be working in joined rounds of half double crochet with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn held together and finishing our holder with a decorative trim.
The beak and sprout are worked with a single strand and a smaller hook.
For the eyes, I used safety eyes with the shaft cut off so they don’t poke through the holder. For alternative options try felt, crocheted or embroidered eyes.

Yarn
I used 4 Seasons Spot Saver USA Style for the base of my crochet glasses holder which you can get at Spotlight (NZ/AUS), otherwise any worsted weight yarn should work.
Since we’re using 2 strands held together, you can use 2 separate skeins of yarn or a single skein and pull yarn from both the inside and the outside.
I’ve included how much of the main colour you need in the materials list and a gauge measurement. However, you may need more or less depending on your chosen yarn and your own personal tension.

Finishing
Use finished photos to help with placement.
- Trim the shafts off the safety eyes making them as flush with the back of the eye as possible. Using hot glue, attach to the base on the centre line approximately 1 st in from either end.
- Using hot glue, attach the beak centred between the eyes. The top edge of the beak should sit on the centre line.
- Sew the sprout to the centre top of the glasses holder on R5, centred with the beak. Make sure to only sew through the backside, alternatively use yellow yarn for sewing.
