This little gingerbread house ornament works up quickly and is perfect for garlands, gift toppers and appliques as well as hanging ornaments.
About the Pattern
This crochet gingerbread house is worked flat in rows and finished with a round of single crochet with the roof and trim added last.
The little wreath is the perfect finishing touch and can be either glued or sewn on.

Materials
- DK weight yarn in brown, white, green and red (I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Soft Fudge/Coffee Bean, Paper White, Slate Green and Pillar Red)
- 2.5mm crochet hook
- Stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors
- Optional: fabric glue
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- inc – increase
- dc – double crochet
- sl st – slip stitch
- st/s – stitch/es
- […] – repeat the instructions in brackets
- (…) – indicates stitch count at end of round

Finished Size
The finished gingerbread house measures approximately 2.25″ x 2″ (6cm x 5cm). Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not important in this pattern. However, using a different yarn and hook size will change the size of the finished item.
Notes
- You will be working in rows of single crochet from the top down.
- Ch 1 and turn at the beginning of each row. The ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
Pattern Instructions
Gingerbread House (starting with brown)
R1: Ch 2, 3 sc in second ch from hook (3)
R2: Ch 1, turn. Inc, sc, inc (5)
R3: Ch 1, turn. Inc, [sc] x3, inc (7)
R4: Ch 1, turn. [Sc] x7 (7)
R5: Ch 1, turn. Inc, [sc] x5, inc (9)
R6: Ch 1, turn. [Sc] x9 (9)
R7: Ch 1, turn. Inc, [sc] x7, inc (11)
R8-12: Ch 1, turn. [Sc] x11 (11) 5 rows
In this next round, single crochet evenly around two sides.
Start with 2 sc in the same st as the last sc from R12, sc evenly up the side (10 sc), 3 sc in the very tip of the house (mark the centre st with a stitch marker), sc evenly down the other side (10 sc), ending with 2 sc in the same st as the first sc from R12.
Fasten off invisibly and weave in ends.
Count 8 sts back from the marked st at the top of the house and join white yarn in the 8th st.
Ch 2, dc in same st, [dc] x7, 3 dc in marked st, [dc] x8, ch 2, sl st in same st as last dc, sl st in next st and in each st around.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Wreath (green)
R1: 8 sc in magic ring (8) – don’t pull the ring closed all the way. You want to leave a hole for the centre of the wreath.
R2: Sl st in first sc, ch 1, sl st in same st. [Ch 1, sl st in next st] x7
Fasten off leaving a long tail if you want to sew the wreath on otherwise weave in ends.
Thread some red yarn through a couple of sts from R1 and tie in a bow. Trim ends.
Glue or sew the wreath to the house (see finished photos for placement).
