Easy Crochet Strawberry Pattern

Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a handmade gift and this crochet strawberry pattern is the berry sweetest way to hook their heart this Valentine’s Day.

While I did have Valentine’s Day in mind while designing this adorable strawberry, it’s really just a fun crochet project that’s perfect for any time of year.

This crochet strawberry pattern is a relatively easy low-sew pattern that will bring a bit of extra sweetness to your life (or someone else’s) and make a fun addition to Summer markets.

How to Crochet a Strawberry

This crochet strawberry pattern is worked in a spiral from the top down starting with green.

We’ll change colour to red after the first round and work round 2 into the back loops only which will give us a round of front loops to work the leaves off later.

Tip: Use stitch markers to mark the front loops as they can be hard to see with plush yarn.

I wanted to keep this pattern as low-sew as possible so I used fabric glue to glue down the leaves (but you can always leave them free or sew them down instead) so only the stem and optional flower need attaching.

How to Make a Strawberry Keychain

To make this crochet strawberry smaller so it can be turned into a keychain, simply use thinner yarn and a smaller hook.

For the little strawberry in the image below, I used DK weight cotton yarn, a 2.5mm hook and followed the pattern as written. The finished strawberry measures approximately 2” x 1.5″ (5cm x 4cm).

I stitched small vertical lines using 4 ply white yarn to look like seeds and because it’s so small, I decided it wasn’t necessary to glue the leaves down.

A keychain can easily be attached to the top of the stem.

Finished Size

The finished strawberry measures approximately 4″x 3″ (10.5cm x 8cm) including the stem. Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.

Gauge

Gauge is not important in this pattern. However, using a different yarn and hook size will change the size of the finished item.

Notes

  • Pieces are worked in a continuous spiral. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.
  • For a fun variation, change colour to brown after R5 to make a choc dipped strawberry.
