Christmas Pudding Ornament Crochet Pattern

Crochet Christmas pudding ornament

Day 11 of the 12 Days of Crochet Christmas is a sweet Christmas pudding ornament pattern.

To be honest I’m not super familiar with Christmas pudding. I’ve had it before but not for a very long time. I always think it looks cute and Christmassy though with the berries and holly leaves on top.

The pattern is quick and easy with all the parts being made separately and assembled at the end. I added a white accent to the eyes so they stand out more against the brown yarn. It also gives it a bit more character.

MATERIALS

(Contains Affiliate Links)

  • DK Weight Yarn in dark brown, white, green and red (I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Coffee Bean, Paper White, Evergreen and Pillar Red)
  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • 8mm safety eyes
  • Polyester fibrefill
  • Yarn/twine for hanging
  • Stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors

ABBREVIATIONS

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • inc – increase
  • invdec – invisible decrease
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • tr – treble crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st/s – sticth/es
  • […] – repeat the instructions in brackets
  • (…) – indicates stitch count at end of round
SPECIAL STITCHES

Picot: Ch 2, sl st in second ch 2 from hook

Puff Stitch: [Yarn over, insert hook in st, yarn over and pull through] x3, you should have 7
loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 7 loops. Ch 1 to close the st.

NOTES

The pattern is written using US terminology and measures approximately 2″ x 2″ (5cm x 5cm) when using the materials listed.

Pieces are worked in a continuous spiral starting with a magic ring unless otherwise specified. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Use a hook size to match your chosen yarn. Make sure that your stitches are tight enough to prevent stuffing showing through and adjust hook size if necessary.
