Easy Crochet Snake Pattern

Looking for a mindless amigurumi project that’s perfect for keeping your hands busy while watching TV? This easy crochet snake pattern is it!

A hand holding a soft, blue, crochet snake plushie with small colorful spots and a pink tongue.

This pattern came about as I had some leftover yarn that I wanted to use up and I thought the little pops of colour would be perfect for a crochet snake.

I never thought I’d say this about a snake, but… it turned out so cute!

This is a great beginner friendly amigurumi project as it allows you to practice some of the basics while still creating something fun.

A blue plush toy snake with colourful specks, black eyes and a pink tongue, coiled in a circle on a white background.

About the Pattern

The pattern is worked from head to tail and the length can be easily adjusted to make a longer or shorter snake.

I used approximately 38g of Premier Yarns Parfait Chunky Pom Pom for my crochet snake and I left the body unstuffed for maximum flexibility.

You can really make this snake your own by playing with different colours/yarns, add stripes or use a self-striping yarn.

The addition of the tongue is optional and to be honest it looks just as cute without it.

Finished Size

The finished snake measures approximately 19.5″ (49.5cm) long not including the tongue. Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.

Gauge

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Use a hook size to match your chosen yarn. Make sure that your stitches are tight enough to prevent stuffing showing through and adjust hook size if necessary.

Notes

  • Pieces are worked in a continuous spiral. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.
  • The length of the snake is easily adjustable by adding more single crochet rounds.
