Creme Egg Bunny Basket Crochet Pattern
If you’re still hunting for a quick Easter gift idea then I’ve got you covered. These little baskets are so quick and easy to make – add a creme egg and you have a sweet little gift. Perfect for kids to give to their friends or teachers.
The baskets are made in one piece so there’s no sewing and only 2 ends to weave in. I’ve used the ‘X’ variation of the single crochet stitch as I think it works well here. If you would like to try it, it’s as simple as making your first yarn over a yarn under so instead of yarn over, yarn over you would do yarn under, yarn over.
MATERIALS
- Worsted Weight Yarn
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle, scissors
STITCHES/ABBREVIATIONS
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- inc – increase
- BLO – back loop only
- sl st – slip stitch
- st/s – stitch/es
- (…) – indicates stitch count at end of round
- […] – repeat the instructions in brackets
Single crochet variation: Insert hook, yarn under, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook.
NOTES
The pattern is written using US terminology and measures approximately 2.5″ (6.5cm) tall including the ears, when using the materials listed.
To create a sturdy base you’ll be crocheting over a round slip stitches as shown below.
PATTERN
BASKET
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
R2: [Inc] x6 (12)
R3: [Sc, inc] x6 (18)
R4: Sc, inc, [2 sc, inc] x5, sc (24)
R5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
At this point my piece measured 2″ across. Adjust hook size as necessary.
R6: BLO [sl st] x30 (30)
R7: [Sc] x30 over the top of your sl st round (30)
R8-12: [Sc] x30 (30)
R13: 14 sl st, *ch 6, 2 hdc in third ch from hook, hdc in next, sc in next, sl st in last ch,* 3 sl st, repeat from *to*, 13 sl st (30 sl st)
Fasten off invisibly and weave in ends.
