Earth Day Coaster Crochet Pattern

Crochet coaster depicting the earth against a black background with yarn, scissors and a crochet hook.

Happy Earth Day! Earth Day is the perfect time to reflect and think about what we can do better to protect our planet. After all Earth is the only home we have.

Let’s celebrate with this fun Earth inspired coaster. Coasters are a great way to add some personality to the home and they make great gifts. I love the fact that they’re quick to make and while this one takes a little bit longer with all the colour changes, the end result is so worth it.

MATERIALS

(Contains Affiliate Links)

  • DK Weight Cotton Yarn in background colour (bc), blue (b) and green (g) (I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Sailor Blue, Grass Green and Pure Black)
  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle, scissors

STITCHES/ABBREVIATIONS

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • st/s – stitch/es
  • (…) – indicates stitch count at end of round
  • […] – repeat the instructions in brackets

NOTES

The pattern is written using US terminology and measures approximately 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) when using the materials listed.

The ch 1 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

You will be working in rows of single crochet from the bottom up.

The pattern is written as: # of single crochet stitches (colour abbreviation), example: 8 sc (b) means 8 sc in the colour blue.

I change colours the same way that I do for amigurumi: How to Change Colours in Amigurumi.

Here’s a chart for those who prefer to follow a chart rather than a written pattern:
