Poinsettia Ornament Crochet Pattern

Day 6 of the 12 Days of Crochet Christmas is a pretty poinsettia ornament crochet pattern.

Poinsettia ornament sitting atop a gift wrapped present.

Poinsettias always look so festive with their red and green foliage. I tried to go for a more simplified version here with just the two layers and I love that it kind of looks like a star.

About the Pattern

I’ve used the picot single crochet stitch for the centre of the red leaves with the rest of the leaves being worked using a combination of simple stitches.

The instructions are a little bit wordy but once you do the first leaf the rest should be easy.

Finished Size

The finished poinsettia measures approximately 3″ x 3″ (8cm x 8cm). Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.

Gauge

Gauge is not important in this pattern. However, using a different yarn and hook size will change the size of the finished item.

Notes

  • Pieces are worked in a continuous spiral starting with a magic ring unless otherwise specified. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.
  • The leaves are worked around a foundation of single crochet stitches.

  • Attach a hanging loop.
