Easy Crochet Heart Pattern
Crochet a sweet little heart with this easy crochet heart pattern. These crochet hearts are perfect for Valentine’s Day gifts and decorations.
Easy Crochet Heart
Crochet hearts are extremely versatile and can be used for lots of fun projects.
- Add a hanging loop for a sweet and simple ornament.
- Use as an applique on a hat, bag or baby blanket.
- String a bunch together or pair with other crochet motifs to create a garland.
- Use as a gift topper for a special handmade touch.
How Do You Crochet a Heart
This crochet heart pattern is an advanced beginner project due to its construction.
Unlike a lot of heart patterns, we will not be starting with a magic ring. Instead you’ll be working in a spiral around both sides of a starting chain.
The use of increases and decreases will create the heart shape.
Adjusting the Size
You can easily change the size of the heart by using thicker or thinner yarns.

Finished Size
The finished heart measures approximately 2.25″ wide x 2″ tall (6cm x 5cm). Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not important in this pattern. However, using a different yarn and hook size will change the size of the finished item.
Notes
- Pieces are worked in a continuous spiral, working around both sides of the starting chain. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.
- R1 is worked into the top of the chain and the back bump to decrease gaping between stitches.
- The 3inc in R1 is worked through the chain loop and the closest bar on the back of the sc3tog.
