30 Minute Velvet Egg Crochet Pattern

Are you egg-cited for Easter? Whether you’re in need of a quick last minute gift or some kid friendly seasonal decor, you can whip up one of these velvet eggs in 30 minutes or less!
I know there are plenty of egg patterns floating around but I really wanted to create my own using some yarn from my stash. The velvet yarn gives these eggs a really luxurious feel and the soft colours look so pretty. I’ve kept mine sweet and simple to suit my style but feel free to add embellishments and make them your own.
MATERIALS
- Lion Brand Vel-Luxe Yarn (I used the colours Silver and Lilac)
- 4mm crochet hook
- Polyester fiberfill
- Stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors
ABBREVIATIONS
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- inc – increase
- invdec – invisible decrease
NOTES
The pattern is written using US terminology and measures approximately 2.5″ (6.5cm) long when using the materials listed.
I’ve opted to use a ch 2 start instead of a magic ring as I find it easier when working with this type of yarn. You’re welcome to use whatever works best for you. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Use a hook size to match your chosen yarn. Make sure that your stitches are tight enough to prevent stuffing showing through and adjust hook size if necessary.
