Pokeball Easter Egg Crochet Pattern

Pokeball shaped eggs held in a pair of hands against a black background.

I’ve been seeing a few Easter projects popping up around the place and since I’ve had a couple of requests for this pattern already, I thought I’d get it up nice and early so you have plenty of time to make some.

I grew up watching/playing Pokemon and my son is also a fan so this twist on the classic egg was an obvious choice. Use them for Easter egg hunts or add a keychain for a fun calorie free gift.

MATERIALS

  • DK Weight Yarn in red, white and black
(I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in pillar red, paper white and pure black)
  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • Polyester Fiberfill
  • Stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors

STITCHES/ABBREVIATIONS

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = increase
  • invdec = invisible decrease
  • BLO = back loop only
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st/s = stitch/es
  • (…) – indicates stitch count at end of round
  • […] – repeat the instructions in brackets

NOTES

The pattern is written using US terminology and measures approximately 2.5″ x 2″ (6.5cm x 5cm) when using the materials listed.

Pieces are worked in a continuous spiral starting with a magic ring unless otherwise specified. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Use a hook size to match your chosen yarn. Make sure that your stitches are tight enough to prevent stuffing showing through and adjust hook size if necessary.
