Mini Christmas Stocking Pattern

Two mini Christmas stockings on a heart shaped tray against a white background.

We put our Christmas tree up a few days ago as I figured we could all use some extra Christmas cheer this year. It’s definitely put me in the spirit and now my head is buzzing with ideas.

I asked over on Instagram if there was room for another mini stocking pattern and the resounding answer was… yes! These would be great for kids to give to their friends. Add a candy cane and a small choccy and they’d love it. You could also use them for bunting, advent calendars or just as a decoration for the tree.

I wanted something on the small side but still somewhat practical. The pattern is worked in one piece (no cutting or rejoining yarn for the heel) with a simple edging. It comes together really quickly and easily. When this time of year is already so busy, the last thing I want to do is fluff around with complex patterns.

NOTES

The pattern is written using US terminology and measures approximately 4″ x 2″ (9.5cm x 4.5cm) when using the materials listed.

The toe of the stocking is worked in a continuous spiral with the heel worked in turned rows. The body of the stocking is then worked in joined rounds with a simple edging. Reference my Spring Snail pattern if you need help identifying the third loop in half double crochet.

Feel free to make the hanging loop as long or as short as you’d like.
