Book Review: Crochet Cafe by Lauren Espy

I’m so happy that I finally got my hands on a copy of Lauren Espy’s new book Crochet Cafe. As a long time follower of hers on Instagram (@amenagerieofstitches) I was super excited when I heard about this book and being the impatient person that I am, I actually bought the eBook as soon as it was available but it still didn’t prepare me for how gorgeous and detailed this book actually is.

Crochet Cafe is jam packed with over 30 designs for the cutest amigurumi food. The designs vary in complexity with some being a little more challenging than others. She’s included lots of information for all the stitches/techniques used and plenty of step-by-step photos making it very beginner friendly.

I love how much thought has gone into this book. Each section has been broken down into different food categories: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, Dinner and Dessert. The pictures are bright and playful and everything has been styled in a way that is very reminiscent of chalkboard cafe menu boards which just adds to the whole experience.

It’s a hefty book with good quality glossy pages and it’s stitch bound so it always lies flat no matter what page you’re on (as a messy couch crocheter I really appreciate that in a book).

Crochet Cafe is definitely one for the collection. The only problem is deciding what to make first!
